In May, the grace of many hands…

The month of May, which is traditionally dedicated to Mary, our Blessed Mother, is also our time in the diocese to rejoice in the spring planting season.

So at Mary our Morning Star Retreat House site, 22 folks, young and old, gathered to plant 800 pounds of Yukon Gold potatoes, and enjoy a little Bar-B-Q and camp fire.

It would be nice if, while ploughing the field, we would hit “pay dirt” as in real Klondike gold, so we could start building our retreat house.

In the meantime, we are grateful to God for the good weather and grace of many hands completing the potato planting in an hour. Even Merlin the dog got in on the work bee, carefully placing potatoes in the rows and not eating them!

Here are a few photos of the potato planting crew, Merlin, and most importantly, the little shrine for St. Therese. With the help of Bill Bojczuk and his son Elih from Mission, British Columbia, the shrine was completed and blessed last evening.
